$8000 raised for 5 Counties Children’s Centre at Annual Charity Golf Tournament

We were looking forward to this gig all year, and when it finally came around we were not disappointed! For the 4th year in a row Storm The Palace rocked the Mansion at Penryn Park for the after party for the Wally’s Hockey Team Charity Golf Tournament to benefit Five Counties Children’s Centre in Cobourg. The torrential downpour could not dampen the spirits of those that came out to Port Hope Golf & Country Club in Port Hope to support the cause and after all was said and done $8000.00 was raised.

The enthusiastic reception the band receives at this event is off the charts…sometimes bordering on fanatical! When we played this event for the first time 4 years ago Storm The Palace had only performed twice before and only had about 8 songs rehearsed. We quickly threw together another 20 80’s songs and the audience response was so positive that we thought “maybe we’re on to something here.”

This year Luke McFadden once again joined us on stage for 3 songs, taking the lead on the medley of JUNGLE LOVE by Morris Day and the Time and a rare performance of a current chart topper UPTOWN FUNK by Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars. Luke also performed FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT (TO PARTY) by The Beastie Boys. We’re happy to announce that the Tournament will happen again next year on June 4th, 2016 and Storm The Palace has been invited back to play. Thank you Brad & Sue Robinson, Christian Ericksson and the rest of the Wally’s team and volunteers for your efforts that make this a great event to raise money for such a worthy cause. Also a special thanks to Chris Brown for taking some photos of our performance. We will hopefully post them soon.
